NHS England is seeking feedback from the public, primary care professionals and innovators on how it can ensure the general practitioner (GP) payment system is "fair" in an era of increasing digitization. The organization has reviewed the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF), which provides payments for achieving outcomes that reflect high quality care in general practice, and is looking at how GP payments could change to fairly support the rollout of digital technology across the country. NHS says the review aims to meet the changing needs of a growing and aging population and increased use of digital services locally. In the case of the QOF, reforms are being proposed to recognize and support the professional values of GPs and their teams in the delivery of person-centred care, while in the case of digital-first primary care, proposals aim to ensure that compensation keeps up with the opportunities digital innovation offers.
