The U.K.'s National Health Service (NHS) is readying a wide-ranging app to allow all patients to book appointments, consult their medical records, and more. Many of the features are already available online, but the app will bring them together into one mobile access point. The app will also let patients order repeat prescriptions, access 111 (the U.K.'s emergency medical number) online, manage long-term conditions as well as store personal preferences related to data-sharing, organ donation, and end-of-life care in the app. Additionally, the NHS Apps Library recently added a mental health app called My Possible Self, which uses self-tracking and coaching to help users deal with day-to-day problems, manage fears, and improve happiness and wellbeing. The app's modules use cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, problem-solving therapy, and positive psychology tools.
