Non-profit opens three memory clinics in southeastern N.B.

MINT (multi-specialty interprofessional team) is opening memory clinics in Moncton, Sackville and Riverside-Albert. The group already operates one in Miramichi. The clinics assist people with dementia, which includes Alzheimer's disease, who are dealing with the early stages of memory loss. The goal is to offer patients a variety of services, including from a nurse, social worker or physiotherapist, not just primary care physicians. Patients must be referred to the clinic by a primary care physician. Statistics Canada shows N.B. has a dementia rate of 1,200 for every 100,000 residents. A report indicates the province will see an 89% increase in people living with dementia between 2020-2050.
