The Nova Scotia government states its $6.4-million investment to free up operating room hours, hiring more surgeons and creating a central booking system will reduce wait times for residents undergoing hip and knee replacements. It claims the funding will result in 500 additional procedures in the province over the next year. The provincial government says one of its innovations, the centralized booking system, enables patients to choose any facility that offers orthopedic surgeries to shorten their wait time.
