Healthcare workers across the country are reporting high levels of burnout and many say childcare with flexible hours would allow them to stay at work. So far, the Sydney program, which operates 24/7, served 22 families - children of doctors, paramedics and CCAs. The province covers the wages when extra staff are required, food for the evening program and a quarter of the operating costs of the daycare. It also subsidizes half the daycare fees for parents. N.S. is also studying the feasibility of expanding the program to the Antigonish area.
