The Ontario government is turning four of its surplus buildings into community hubs to provide numerous public services to locals under one roof. Under the program, the provincial government will provide ongoing operating and maintenance costs at the building for 18 months while local groups secure funding to keep the hubs operational long-term. Among the services being offered are community healthcare, health promotion and for Indigenous clients, traditional healing. The hubs are being established in Hamilton, North Bay, Ottawa and Owen Sound.
