The timing to launch these new services supports concerning data related to an increase in mental health challenges amongst children and youth. Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care expanded its children and youth mental health services to provide additional community-based mental healthcare under a collaborative care model. The hospital added a child/youth psychiatrist and a mental health pediatrician to provide direct services to children, youth and their families. The team includes an RN, social worker and administrative staff to support in person and virtual services. The service is part of Waypoint’s outpatient and community programs and is located in a Community Health Hub. They’re provided virtually and in-person at the centre or at regional affiliated primary care settings.
