Ontario’s Brockville Mental Health Centre opened a café run for, and by, the patients for the benefit of the forensic treatment patients and staff. The River Cafe's operated by patients who are part of the Vocational and Occupational Therapy Program and provides an opportunity to develop social and business skills in preparation for community reintegration. The patients working at the cafe produce all food served there, giving clients healthy options. It's overseen by a dietitian who helps patients with the creation of the menu. The café's main focused is vocational training and isn’t accessible to the public.
