The Nurses' Health Program (NHP) is available to the 175,000 members of the College of Nurses of Ontario. It encourages nurses to seek treatment for mental health and/or substance use disorders and is focused on early identification and referrals. CNO says the program - modelled on others in the healthcare professions - offers nurses access to resources, a dedicated case manager, comprehensive assessments, as well as individualized support and treatment plans. The CNO adds that the NHP monitors the nurses' progress in recovery so that they may be able to return to practice safely.
