Researchers at the Ottawa Hospital unveiled an online calculator that determines an individual's risk for hospitalization or death as a result of heart attack or stroke. The tool bases its assessment on healthy living choices, including alcohol consumption, diet, physical activity and smoking. Social determinants like stress levels, sense of belonging, ethnicity, immigration status, socioeconomic status and education levels, are also part of the calculator, as are medical conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure.
