New York-based design firm CannonDesign will begin the planning process for the new mental health and addictions campus that will replace Hillsborough Hospital on P.E.I. The province is investing $500,000 over the next two years for this work through Health PEI’s capital budget. The government also set aside $55 million over the next five years for initial infrastructure development. As part of the process, consultations will take place with health system partners, government, the community and patients and their families to cover:

  • Master programming: To articulate future mental and addictions services, identify best practices, opportunities and challenges, describe key health, service and administrative processes and outline human resources required. Once the master program is complete, the master planning process will commence; and
  • Master planning: To outline capital and infrastructure options to meet the program’s service definitions.
