P.E.I. spending nearly three times more on health recruitment than five years ago

The Island ramped up efforts to hire healthcare professionals since 2018, expanding recruitment priorities beyond just a handful of specialties like family medicine, RNs and social workers. Now they’re also seeking associate physicians, physician assistants, LPNs and NPs. Money for recruitment missions within Canada and in places like Dubai increased significantly over the last two years but none of the people hired after the Dubai recruitment trip are practicing yet. The province blamed the lengthy immigration process for the delay.
