The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) says the pilot project, to start in June of next year, isn't meant to predict suicides or identify specific people at risk of attempting it. However, AI will mine social media for keywords indicative of suicide ideation. PHAC hopes the data will also provide insights into how suicides are broken down by sex, age, ethnicity and geographic location. The cost to create such a program is expected to be up to $150,000, excluding taxes.
