In a report, the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta cited the case of a former Alberta Health Services' employee who looked at the medical records of 1,418 patients without authorization over a 12-year period. She also viewed lists of data for 12,861 other patients. The report recommends that AHS reviews:
- Privacy training for staff;
- How it investigates privacy breaches; and
- How it audits employees' use of the electronic record system, Netcare.
