Health Sciences North opened its Integrated Chronic Pain Program at the Sudbury Outpatient Centre to provide patients with ways to manage their chronic pain. The hospital says the program offers personalized treatment programs that include access to doctors, nurses, an occupational therapist, physiotherapists, a pharmacist, a recreational therapist, psychological associates, social workers and a gym. The clinic’s expected to lead to fewer visits to the emergency department for those with chronic pain. Attending the clinic still requires referral from a doctor or nurse practitioner. Health Sciences North expects to offer the program across northeastern Ontario.
