Quebec's seniors minister says a plan to reduce antipsychotic use among long-term care residents at 24 facilities resulted saw reduced dosages in 33% of cases, while for 53% of individuals, their use of antipsychotics ended completely. She adds that despite the findings, there were no increases in the amount of behavioural problems or hallucinations among patients. The initial findings, which involved 220 residents, spurred the province to expand the program to 331 more patients at 134 LTCs beginning in March.
