The Quebec government hired Montreal-based Purkinje to supply its integration engine to connect the various computer systems used by healthcare providers in the province over the next seven years. The goal is to improve information sharing among hospitals, long-term care centres and community care organizations, including physician practices. A spokesperson with Purkinje says the integration effort is challenging because Quebec has more than 100 hospitals, several hundred LTCs and thousands of doctors in clinics.
