Using data from the 2016 census, StatsCan finds that 53% of men 65 or older did some work in 2015, up from 38% in 1995. Full-time employment for elderly men also increased: from 15% in 1995 to 23% in 2015. Women are also working past normal retirement age. StatsCan says 39% of them were employed in 2015, twice the percentage recorded two decades earlier. The federal agency states baby boomers are deferring retirement due to mounting financial pressures and increasing life expectancy.
