The Alberta Government notes that 2015 saw 13,358 abortions in the province, a number that changed very little over the previous decade. Despite women being covered for the costs of mifegymiso, the provincial government doesn't expect a spike in the number of abortions. It's expected that there will be around 4,000 prescriptions annually for the abortion drug, as Alberta women opt for a less-invasive method to terminate a pregnancy.
