A Brunswick News survey found healthcare was picked as the number one election issue in the province. Taking into consideration the province is home to the oldest, most obese and one of the unhealthiest populations in the country, Brunswick News spoke to Ken McGeorge, a retired hospital CEO. McGeorge argues the province’s healthcare is organized wrong and agrees with the New Brunswick Health Council finding more doctors will not lend itself to quicker or more accessible care. McGeorge also says changes in the healthcare system will only happen if the boards that run the health authorities are given the power to "hire and fire their own CEOs without the premier’s office making all the important decisions."
