Under Saskatchewan's prescription review program, physicians will receive a report card comparing their prescribing habits to those of their colleagues. The drug classes targeted are opioids, benzodiazepines, stimulants and gabapentin. Physicians will receive a confidential overview of how many patients were prescribed medication, the average dose prescribed and the number of patients who fall above recommended dosage guidelines. The system is being piloted first by physicians at the University of Saskatchewan.
