Saskatchewan Blue Cross (SBC) says the grants are part of an annual process whereby hospitals in smaller communities in the province apply for funding for specific medical equipment needs. This year's recipients include:

  • Biggar and District Health Services Foundation - $5,000 for an emergency pediatric crash cart;
  • Alex Ositis Foundation - $4,995 for an Alaris PK Syringe Pump;
  • Grenfell District Health Foundation - $6,000 for a microscope;
  • Boreal Health Foundation - $7,000 for a lifting tool for patients;
  • Moose Jaw Health Foundation - $9,500 for a pediatric bed; and
  • North Central Health Care Foundation - $1,600 for two wheelchairs.

SBC adds further support for rural hospitals will be revealed later this year.
