Data from StatsCan show in the 2015-2016 fiscal year, 32% of people 12 and older got the flu shot in the past 12 months. Females (36%) were more likely than males (29%) to be immunized. The survey also suggests that those 65 or older were the most likely age cohort to get a flu shot, with 60% of them doing so. By contrast, only one-in-five adults between the ages of 18 and 34 were immunized. StatsCan also finds that individuals with a primary care provider (36%) were far more likely to get a flu shot than those without one (16%). Provincially, Quebec reported the lowest rate of immunization in 2015-2016 at 24%, while Nova Scotia had the highest, at 48%.
