A panel called the Council of Canadian Academies released three reports into problematic types of applications under the medical assistance in dying (MAiD) program. Parliament asked the council to consider the ethical and practical issues surrounding:

  1. MAiD for mature minors;
  2. Advance requests for MAiD; and
  3. MAiD where a mental disorder is the sole underlying medical condition.
