Research from German dermatology group derma.plus puts Canada's skin cancer incidence score at 3.41, the 19th highest among 62 counties surveyed. While Canada doesn't get as much sun as some countries, a preponderance of light-skinned inhabitants elevated the score. The study determined there are 5,382 melanoma cases in the country annually. It also determines that although Canada ranked near the top in terms of health expenditures related to skin cancers, it has a relatively high mortality rate at 21%.
