A survey of physicians conducted Alberta Health Services found that nearly half of doctors who responded don't believe their opinions are valued by AHS managers. Other results from the poll include:

  • More than one-third think patient safety decisions aren't made at the proper level and by the most qualified people;
  • Forty-three percent feel AHS senior management doesn't understand the risks associated with patient care; and
  • Only 13% could cite changes that AHS made in the past year that had a significant positive impact on their practice.
