Research Co. found 64% of Canadians are very confident or moderately confident that the healthcare system would be there to provide assistance if they had to face an unexpected medical condition or disease. This proportion was 79% in 2019. When pondering the biggest problem facing the healthcare system right now:

  • Thirty-seven percent mentioned a shortage of doctors and nurses;
  • Twenty-four percent said it’s long wait times;
  • Fourteen percent said bureaucracy and poor management; or
  • Inadequate resources and facilities (8%).

The survey also found 35% of Canadians think healthcare would be better if it were run by the private sector.
