Toronto virtual clinics cut wait times by nearly 40% in some cases

A Toronto neurology centre is using virtual clinics to cut wait times for patient referrals. The virtual clinics cut the number of days between referral and appointment overall by 25% and up to 38%, depending on the condition. The technology decreased wait times for epilepsy referrals from 55 days to 29 days; for headache and migraine referrals from 66 days to 47 days and for concussion, from 63 days to 61 days. Patients are pre-screened by medical staff before the virtual clinic and each clinic focuses on only one condition, which was instrumental in reducing the wait times.
