Study participants reported having worse fatigue than people with stroke, inflammatory bowel disease, end-stage renal disease or cancer with anemia. They also had a lower health-related quality of life than reported by people with stage 4 lung cancer. The study also notes more women than men reported experiencing negative, life changing impacts from long COVID. Researchers hope to highlight the seriousness of long COVID for physicians and other healthcare professionals who may dismiss the severity of the condition.
