Manitoba's Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) will pay two private companies $15.7 million over three years to implement a transitional home-care service that will replace a program the province stopped funding earlier this year. We Care health services (part of the CBI Health Group) and ParaMed won the contracts. The program will provide patients with up to 90 days of intensive at-home care, with the goal of avoiding longer-than-necessary stays in hospitals as well as patients being prematurely moved to personal care homes. After the 90 days at home, patients will either transition into a personal care home or remain at home with regular, ongoing home care.
