The WRHA’s online service experience survey's part of a year-long pilot project that began last fall. The real-time, short-form surveys allow patients or their family members, as well as people in long-term care facilities or community health service areas to send complaints or compliments, allowing the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority to take action almost immediately. The WRHA strives to connect with people who offer negative feedback within 24 hours and has already addressed some of the feedback:

  • Some asked for more chairs for family members, others said additional parking was needed for day patients;
  • There were requests for improved online booking and increased physician availability; and
  • WRHA also received 100 requests from people wanting a callback. About two percent of those calls were deemed potential patient safety events to investigate.

The pilot was so successful, WRHA is negotiating with a private company to renew the contract.
