Challenges and Opportunities
MONCTON (NBHC) – The New Brunswick Health Council (NBHC) hosted a press conference today to update New Brunswickers on the status of the NBHC and the challenges and opportunities that lay ahead. The NBHC CEO Stéphane Robichaud took advantage of the occasion to discuss the transition from a government start-up towards up-and-running by sharing where the Council is, what the current situation resembles, the approach the Council is taking, and what lies ahead.
Referring to the current health system environment, Mr. Robichaud expressed concern that “evidence-based decision-making in the planning of our health care system is lacking,” adding that these words will not come as a surprise to many of the 18,000 hard-working people within the system.
Mr. Robichaud also seized this opportunity to highlight the members of the Council, and how their expertise and knowledge is being leveraged. Their work will focus on engagement, population health, care experience, and sustainability.
The NBHC has been established as an independent and objective organization that measures, monitors and evaluates New Brunswick’s health system performance through a citizen-centered dual mandate of performance measurement and public engagement.
