About

This indicator is a composite percentage score, based on 2 individual questions in the survey, that represents to what extent acute care patients received key information from hospital staff before leaving the hospital.

Source

New Brunswick Health Council, Hospital Acute Care Survey

Calculations

This indicator is based on respondents who said 'own home' or 'someone else’s home' to the question 'After you left the hospital, did you go directly to your own home, to someone else’s home or to another health facility?'. This indicator is calculated by dividing the total number of 'yes' responses to the questions 'During this hospital stay, did doctors, nurses or other hospital staff talk with you about whether you would have the help you needed when you left the hospital?' and 'During this hospital stay, did you get information in writing about what symptoms or health problems to look out for after you left the hospital?', by the total number of responses given as 'yes or no' for these 2 questions.
