About

This indicator is the percentage of students in grades 6 to 12 who have a high level of pro-social behaviour. Students are given a 'total pro-social behaviour score' based on their responses to 5 individual questions, and a cutoff is used to identify students with a high level of pro-social behaviour.

Source

New Brunswick Health Council, Student Wellness and Education Survey - Grades 6-12

Calculations

This indicator is calculated by dividing the number of respondents who have a total pro-social behaviour score higher than a specified cutoff by the number of respondents who described their feelings and ideas for at least 3 of the following 5 questionnaire items: I often do favours for people without being asked, I often lend things to people without being asked, I often help people without being asked, I often compliment people without being asked and I often share things with people without being asked. The response options for these 5 items are: 1. definitely not like me, 2., 3., 4., 5. and 6. definitely like me.
