Source

New Brunswick Health Council, Student Wellness and Education Survey - Grades 6-12

Calculations

This indicator is calculated by dividing the number of respondents who have a total resilience score higher than a specified cutoff by the number of respondents who described their feelings and ideas for at least 6 of the following 12 questionnaire items: I am able to solve problems without harming myself or others, I know where to go in my community to get help, getting an education is important to me, I try to finish what I start, I have people I look up to, my parent/caregiver know a lot about me, my family stands by me during difficult times, my friends stand by me during difficult times, I have opportunities to develop skills that will be useful later in life, I am treated fairly in my community, I feel I belong(ed) at my school and I enjoy my cultural and family traditions. The response options for these 12 items are: not at all, a little, somewhat, quite a bit and a lot.
