This indicator is the average community support score of students in grades 6 to 12. Students are given a 'total community support score' based on their responses to 5 individual questions, a higher score represents a higher level of community support.

Calculations

This indicator is calculated by doing the 'sum of the values provided by the respondents' divided by 'the total number of respondents' to 5 individual questions on how they feel about the area where they live: People say ‘hello’ and often stop to talk to each other in the street, it is safe for younger children to play outside during the day, you can trust people around here, there are good places to spend your free time (e.g., recreation centres, parks, shopping centres) and I could ask for help or a favour from neighbours. The response options for these 5 items are: strongly disagree, disagree, neither agree nor disagree, agree and strongly agree.

Notes

Users are advised to exercise caution if comparing data from the community of Grand Bay-Westfield, Westfield, Greenwich Area to other New Brunswick communities. The data for the community of Grand Bay-Westfield, Westfield, Greenwich Area is based on students in grades 6 to 8, while data from the other communities are based on students in grades 6 to 12. Survey results are assigned to communities based on the location of the school. The community of Grand Bay-Westfield, Westfield, Greenwich Area does not have any schools with grades 9 to 12.
