2019 Hospital Acute Care Survey

The Hospital Acute Care survey evaluates the quality of hospital care in New Brunswick. Eligible to participate were hospital patients, 18 years or older, who were discharged between December 2018 and March 2019 after staying at least one night as a medical, surgical or maternity patient in a New Brunswick acute care hospital.

The 2019 Hospital Acute Care Survey was completed by 6 201 patients in New Brunswick.

The results were released on September 1st, 2020.

 

Key Observations from 2019 Edition

  • Results show a lack of progress in several key areas of the hospital patient care experience from 2016 to 2019.
  • In 2019, 78.5% of New Brunswickers rated their hospital favourably, compared to 78.9% in the 2016 edition of the survey.
  • Between 2016 and 2019, the % of New Brunswickers who always received services in their preferred language (when French is preferred) has decreased.
